Module 5 – Innovation and Creativity in Community Enterprises, introduces learners to the role of innovation, creativity, and technology as drivers of value creation in community-led projects. The module explores the different types of innovation, sources of creative ideas, and tools for collaborative problem-solving. It also guides participants through practical techniques such as brainstorming, design thinking, creative canvases, and idea-evaluation methods, enabling them to develop innovative solutions that respond to community needs while fostering inclusion, sustainability, and local impact.
COMPETENCES
Module 5 develops essential digital competences aligned with DigComp by engaging learners in activities that involve digital collaboration, content creation, and problem- solving. Exercises such as Activity 1 (Brainstorming), where students use digital whiteboards or shared documents to generate and classify ideas, and Activity 2 (Creative Techniques), where they apply tools such as mind-mapping or digital canvases, strengthen skills in digital communication and co-creation. Learners also perform an online analysis of innovation types using resources provided in the module and complete quizzes that develop their ability to navigate, evaluate, and handle digital information responsibly.
Module 5 reinforces key entrepreneurial competences from the EntreComp framework, including spotting opportunities, creativity, vision, and turning ideas into action. Through activities such as analysing sources of innovation, exploring types of innovation (product, process, organisational, digital), completing Activity 3 (Idea Evaluation), and working through Module 5’s practical examples, learners cultivate the ability to identify community challenges and transform them into value-creating solutions. They practice assessing feasibility, refining concepts, and planning next steps—skills vital for designing community-led enterprises.
By engaging with collaborative creative methodologies and applying structured innovation tools, university-level students and professionals build confidence in leading creative processes, developing innovative proposals, and contributing strategically to community-driven development.
