Module 4 – Sustainability Plan: Communication and Financing, equips learners with the knowledge and tools required to build a long-term sustainability strategy for community-led enterprises. It explores the principles of environmental, social and economic sustainability, the circular economy, governance models, and impact measurement. Participants learn to design a sustainability vision, set measurable goals, select appropriate digital tools, and communicate progress effectively. The module also covers financial planning, sources of funding, budgeting, KPIs, and communication strategies, enabling students to ensure the viability and positive societal impact of their initiatives.
COMPETENCES
Module 4 develops key digital competences. Module 4 guides learners to work with digital tools for sustainability planning, impact tracking and communication. Activities such as Activity 1: Sustainability Vision, where students use Canva to design a digital sustainability vision statement, and Activity 2: KPIs, where they build dashboards or Google Sheets to visualise sustainability indicators, directly reinforce DigComp areas of digital content creation, data literacy, and digital communication.
Module 4 also builds entrepreneurial competences related to ethical and sustainable thinking, mobilisation of resources, and financial and economic literacy, aligned with EntreComp.
Module 4 includes activities such as the analysis of financial structures, the preparation of an abbreviated balance sheets, the development of an income- expense records. Within Activity 1 and Activity 2 in the Financial Plan section, learners practice budgeting, assessing financial viability, and identifying funding sources. The sustainability-planning exercises: crafting visions, setting measurable goals, engaging stakeholders, and selecting KPIs, also strengthen skills in opportunity recognition, strategic planning, impact assessment, and responsible decision-making.
Together, these activities prepare university-level and professional participants to design financially sound, ethically grounded, and digitally enabled sustainability strategies for community-led enterprises.
